HausMagick Transform Your Home with Witchcraft edition by Erica Feldmann Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
- Your usual intent-crystal-incense garbage. It smells suspiciously like a marketing machine trying to sell decor and social acceptance to Witches. Ha. As if. Nice color photographs, though.
If you really want to transform your house with witchcraft, try my suggestions, instead
(1) Walk around your house naked until you accept the beauty of your body.
(2) Take your television to the roof. Throw it off.
(3) No electricity usage one or two hours before retiring for bed. Use candlelight.
(4) Learn to control your entire house, what enters it, what exits it, from your doorstoop. Any old Witch Mother can tell you how.
(5) Acquire a familiar spirit.
(6) Read poetry aloud in your kitchen.
(7) Put on drum music in any room and dance for the Great Mother and the Lord of Life.
(8) With the $20 you would have spent on this book, buy a small birdfeeder for your backyard, and some seed.
The photograph of the author on page 11 (black dress, laughing, not looking at the camera, in front of store shelving) should be captioned "LOLZ@readers. My magic worked! I successfully appropriated and commercialized a minority religious impulse , repackaged it as home decor, and sold it to you in book form! Now come buy from my ye olde shoppe!"
Also, please note that this book came out last month (February 2019), and the market already appears to be flooded with used, discounted copies. - Expressing ourselves through our homes has never been more approachable. Pinterest brings a multitude of ideas to our fingertips. Fixer Upper and other HGTV shows seems to be the pastime of many. Whether you own your home or rent a new spot every year, there is a certain allure to making your space reflect who you really are.Â
For those that consider themselves to be Pagan, there is often the desire to mesh our spiritual practices with our home decor. Sometimes this is to the benefit of mixing magic and mundane to integrate our practices. Other times, it falls into the "witchy aesthetic" and can leave practitioners feeling a bit empty. HausMagick Transform Your Home with Witchcraft by Erica Felmann aims to help everyone find the right balance of using magic and Paganism to enhance their homes authentically.Â
This book is more like a small coffee table style book than a sit down and read page to page book. There are big, beautiful photos on almost every page. You'll see photos from the author's home and shop. The only downside is that all the images are clearly of the same design aesthetic leaving less room for a range of tastes.Â
The actual content of the book is easy to read. It covers manifesting, clearing, protection, comfort, harmony, and balance. Those are basically the fancy chapter names for topics like decluttering and working with people who have different decor ideas. You'll get a sweet, simple introduction to all topics. Scattered in each chapter are a few crystal descriptions and recipes.Â
I'll be frank. This book will seem quite fluffy for most. It's not meant to be an in depth how-to. Rather, it's about feeling good in your space (that includes having a pretty book about magick). The timely combination of magic and Paganism will be a good sell to many who are finding themselves attracted to path and want to reflect that attraction in a trendy way.Â
It's not a book that I'll keep on my bookshelf, but it is a fun, pretty book that many will enjoy. Once and a while it's nice to have just a cozy book to read instead of diving into the depths of our practices. - I really love everything about this book!
The way it looks and feels as well as it’s contentâ¤ï¸
Finally a book that addresses working with the energies of a house from the Witch’s point of view! - this book is just perfect. it’s chock full of useful information for practicing magic and the best part is that the author has made it modern, refreshing, and accessible. not to mention the photography is GOREGOUS. a true treasure to behold.
- This book was not for me, returned it. Wanted less product placement from the store, more spells, less fluff.
- Loved this book, loved the information provided and how it was provided. I do not think there is anything else out there like this book. The level of details, how-to's was very informative and with easy to use 'recipes'. Highly recommend this book for anyone looking to bring more magick into their home.
- Beautiful images and a friendly, warm tone that introduces many metaphysical ideas in a beginner-friendly way. One of my favorite new witchy books.
- Beautiful pictures and vibe
