This is a very informative volume that also passes for a lovely coffee table book. Yes, it is tastefully laid out and includes some beautiful photos of the Domaine de la Romanee Conti properties and cellars. But there is considerable beef here too, including a very useful history of the ownership and expansion of the DRC stable of properties, interesting discussion on the always controversial topic of "terroir," notes on viticulture and vinification methods at DRC and Broadbent tasting notes on three or four decades' worth of DRC vintages.

Settle in for an evening, with a glass of good red Burgundy nearby (it need not be DRC Echezeaux or La Tache or Romanee Conti, but that wouldn't hurt of course, should you have the coin required to indulge). This is an extremely enjoyable read for anyone with an interest in these legendary red Burgundies (and one quirky white, the miniscule production of DRC Le Montrachet, also addressed in this book).
