Ten colleges and universities from all areas of the country participated in a two-year pilot program sponsored by the Lily Endowment to study what works to engage increasingly disaffected young men in college life, in the classroom, on campus and even in the community. Gar Kellom, PhD (Winona State University) and Miles Groth, PhD (Wagner College) are seasoned scholars of young men's experience during the college years. The book contains heartening and moving accounts of how different academic and social environments produce effective programs for involving the now only 39% male population nationwide attending institutions of tertiary education. Chapters are co-authored by mentors and students who participated in the pilot program.
