The Herbal Kitchen Bring Lasting Health to You and Your Family with 50 EasyToFind Common Herbs and Over 250 Recipes Kami McBride Rosemary Gladstar Books Reviews

  • My headline says it all, basically. I've been watching Kami for a while and what I like about her and why I bought her book is, her methods incorporate a lot of herbs into your everyday cooking. They're for all different reasons too. She comes from mothers and grandmothers who've used them for a long time. She's learned the benefits of digestive aides, herbs that prevent colds and flus, herbs that have incredible health benefits that should be eaten everyday in our food, as food, not just medicinal tinctures or salves. She also has an excellent description of each herbal plant that she covers in the beginning of the book. Her personality is user friendly, especially on her videos and she has a true passion for sharing the gift of herbal foods that have long been forgotten thru the use of processing and packaged food in stores.
  • Absolutely stunning book!! Thought I would just glance at it and 2 hours later couldn’t put this book down! Totally a must have for any kitchen!!!
  • This was a long awaited book! I was so excited to see it in the mail today that I read the entire book in one evening! It’s a fantastic resource for any budding herbalist! I’m very excited to try out some of these fantastic recipes!
  • This book isn’t a cookbook with full meal recipes in it. Instead it’s a book that shows you simple and many times quick ways to use herbs every day. There’s a section that tells you about each herb and it’s properties and uses, and then goes into making herbal waters and drinks, smoothies, herbal honey, herbal vinegar, cordials, oils, herbal ghee, pesto, sprinkles and salts, and bath and foot soaks. Chapter 13 is kitchen meals, broken down by season, and there are four recipes for each season. If you’re looking for a way to add more herbs into your life or even just more flavor into your cooking, then I recommend checking this book out. The recipes are easy to make and a delight to use.
  • I have followed Kami for a long time and enjoyed her first book.
This book develops the overall culture of using herbs in an
easy to follow manner both in the information about each procedure
    and in the recipe descriptions.
  • So many options! So many Choices! We love the variety of all these creations. The turmeric ghee is a staple as well as several of the honey recipes such as Chai Honey as a lovely warming tea and the cinnamon-ginger honey for oatmeal, etc. We now have "shakers" of all kinds on our table to add depth, flavor and health to every meal.

If you need to 'step it up' in meal preparation this book can help. What I love is that Kami's brings the medicinal value and wonderful taste sensations all together.

Got spices! Use them! This book can help! You will not be disappointed with this book.
  • This book is sooo informative and useful. The wonderful Kami included materia medica pages for the herbs she utilizes in the book, along with everything herbal you can do in the kitchen. She even included a chapter on herbal baths and foot soaks...because after prepping all of those wonderful recipes we all need a little self love! This book will get a lot of use!
  • While I am not new to herbs and spices, I am new to using them for optimizing health and well-being. When I received my copy of The Herbal Kitchen I read it cover to cover. I am excited to begin this journey and to share with my loved ones! Kami McBride makes becoming an herbalist in your own home easy and accessible for the novice.
