• Sarah Solomon could've very easily written an acerbic book piercing the low-hanging fruit of stereotypical Millennial excesses... and to some degree she did, tackling everything from the perils of swipe-enabled dating and hookups to the joys and agonies of becoming acquainted with alcohol to the absurdity of unironic, self-styled "influencers," with her trademark (and often self-deprecating) sarcasm. Although her writing is sharply satirical, Solomon is never mean she's never petty, never cruel, and somehow never cynical. Instead, she displays an unexpected tenderness throughout her (wo)manual (that's as 'woke' as this old man will ever be, so enjoy it) she clearly knows how difficult the transitions from college to "adulting" can be and she she enlightens and inspires as she entertains.
  
  Indeed, this book is imminently useful there are sections on everything from understanding basic finance and investing to the basics of wine pairing, all of which she has painstakingly researched. She may treat her subjects with a light touch, but the core of her advice is always sound and sensible without being condescending or aiming to flatter either herself or her audience. That's an exceptionally rare attribute and Solomon's book is all the richer for it.
  
  Her illustrations abound throughout the text, providing an additional layer of personality, though her prose is plenty colorful as fans of her writing already know. Solomon's book is a bright spot in publishing for its utility, hilarity, and its tenderness an altogether charming read that you'll refer to again and again.
