Two Weeks A Novel Baxter Family edition by Karen Kingsbury Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

  • My wife has followed Karen Kingsbury from the beginning. She enjoys her stories but I don't enjoy the price. Come on $13.99 for an e book get real.
  • I liked Cole's story. I loved Viennas parents role. I liked several of the regular Baxter family characters as well. I felt a bit disappointed in Ashley's character though. She appeared as a bit judgemental at times in the book when she had been in a similar situation. I did not like the part where she in her mind started comparing Carolyn to Elise. It was a turn off and I saw that character in a new light. It was obvious who the book was based on and felt lots of wasted space with all the dedications and review of characters. Could have hyperlinked in the electronic edition somehow. Books are getting thicker with less of the story in them promotional for other books, career and people are paying more. Probably my last Karen book . I retired and will not be able to afford these. You come to a point where it is wants vs needs. I dont need
  • As a huge fan of Karen Kingsbury 's Baxter Family, I always look forward to the next "chapter" in this beloved family's story. And TWO WEEKS takes you on a journey of three couples and one newborn baby that will change each of their lives forever.
The story centers around eighteen year old
Cole Blake, Ashley and Landon's son, who is a semester away from graduating high school and has his future planned out with college at Liberty University to study pre-med and to follow in his grandfather John Baxter's footsteps. But what he didn't plan on was meeting Elise Walker, who instantly captures his heart. A friendship quickly develops and Cole finds himself falling in love. He knows she's the one who God has made for him.
Elise Walker moved to Bloomington to escape an abusive, physical relationship. The attention of Cole was just what she needed to change her life for the better. Until....she discovers she is pregnant from that past relationship. Cole, wholeheartedly, commits himself to Elise to be with her every step of the way, even if it means skipping college to marry her and raise the baby as his own. But, would his parents, especially his mom, understand his commitment to Elise? He knows his dad would support him with his decision, for Landon did the same for his mom when she was a single mom with him.

Aaron and Lucy Williams have been dealing with infertility for ten years, doing everything to try and have a baby of their own. Losing hope and faith and with a marriage that is beginning to suffer, Lucy is ready to take a break, to just go back to just Aaron and her. Truly. Madly. Deeply. Just them. Will Aaron be able to take that break? For deep down, he knows God has plans for them to be parents. He just needs Lucy to pray and trust God. While adoption has always been an option for them, past heartbreaks have deterred them from even considering it. Would an adoption be their only way to become parents?

Decisions for Elise has her changing her mind from she will raise her baby with the help of Cole or placing the baby up for adoption. Adoption outweighs her other choice and she soon picks Aaron and Lucy Williams to be the parents. But as her due date gets closer, she doesn't know if she can go through with the adoption. How can she give her own baby away? She knows she has two weeks to make her final decision.
Will Aaron and Lucy suffer another heartbreak if Elise changes her mind in two weeks? Or will the foster parents want to adopt the baby intended for them?

Theo and Alma Brown fostered children before they had their daughter Vienna, but now in their time of need, could one baby change their lives in two weeks?

TWO WEEKS is more than a work of fiction, Karen Kingsbury brings real issues to light within the pages of this book. Teen pregnancy. Abortion. Infertility. Adoption. Tragic loss and heartbreak. TWO WEEKS is a very well written, deeply moving story where you will find love, faith and the true meaning of family. And with every Karen Kingsbury book, God leaves His footprints within the pages. I highly recommend this book. And grab some tissues, you will need them for both the happy and sad tears.
  • I love following the Baxter’s so I will keep reading Karen Kingsbury's books. I love the story lines and how she develops the characters. Her style of writing, though sometimes makes me grit my teeth and roll my eyes because the characters are too good. Maybe I am just a little jaded but ..... oh well I read them all so it must not bother me too much. In this book, Cole, Ashley’s oldest son is a senior in high school and falls for a pregnant girl, Elise, who was sent to Bloomington to get away from an abusive boyfriend. I thought the choices of abortion, adoption or keeping her baby was very realistic and choices that young unwed girls are faced with. Ashley reacted just as I would have when Cole said a girl he had known for only 3 weeks was pregnant. Why do we always jump to the worst conclusions with our kids before we remember their true character. I recommend this book if you enjoy the Baxter family.
